Waterproof Detector Headphones: Rating and Connector Compatibility
The word waterproof is not enough to tell you whether headphones will work with a particular detector in the surf.
Separate rain from immersion
Look for a published ingress-protection or depth specification, along with its limits. A product suitable for showers may not be rated for saltwater immersion.
Check the detector connection
Connector type, wired or wireless protocol, proprietary adapters and model-year compatibility matter. Do not infer that an accessory works because it shares a manufacturer name.
Factor in underwater audio
Wireless systems may behave differently underwater than they do on land. Read the detector and accessory manuals, and verify whether underwater use is explicitly supported.
Protect the return option
Use the seller’s compatibility documentation and warranty conditions before ordering, especially for accessories that may be opened, submerged or returned with signs of use.
